'The Pitch': 11 Startups Graduate from the London Accelerator

Date Updated: Saturday, October 6, 2018

December 3rd saw 14 world-class startups take the stage at the KOKO in London for 'The Pitch' (watch the video)—the second-ever investor day of the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in London. But this wasn’t just any demo day. Eleven graduate startups from our cohort were joined by three award-winning guest teams on a stage previously graced by the likes of Madonna and Lenny Kravitz, among others.

Piers Linney, BBC Dragon’s Den dragon and Co-CEO of Outsourcery, moderated our top-notch VC panel, which included Michel Van der Bel, Managing Director, Microsoft UK; Suranga Chandratillake, Partner, Balderton Capital; Sitar Teli, Managing Partner, Connect Ventures; Tom Bradley, Partner, DN Capital; Nic Brisbourne, Managing Partner, Forward Partners; Ophelia Brown, Associate, Index Ventures; and Jon Coker, Partner, MMC Ventures. The panel shot quick-fire questions at each team after their pitches, adding some tension and anticipation to an already buzzing room.

To impress such a panel is no easy task. It takes weeks of intense training, rehearsals and hard work, but these startups surpassed expectations and deftly answered the panel’s questions.

The impressive venue was filled with investors, influencers and numerous other representatives from the London startup ecosystem. Our attendees were entertained not only by the pitches, but also by something not seen at a typical demo day: a live band and Cyr wheel artist, which was sponsored by the audio platform audioBoom. Guests were also treated to massages and pampering from beauty and wellness sponsors PRIV.

After the pitches finished, the networking and celebrations continued with Winter Pimms (very British!) on the famous KOKO balcony. Read about the presenting startups below and see for yourself how the graduates wowed the audience.
