Shared dream of a smarter world

This May, we hosted ‘Citynext Partners Meet’, with the aim of bringing start-ups under Microsoft’s CityNext initiative. Objective of this initiative is to enable city residents and city leaders to use technology to build a foundation for sustainable growth and prosperity.

The meet brought together start-ups from similar industries to communicate and work with each other, and create a unique proposition that can be taken to market. As this association matures, these start-ups will align with government agencies and amongst themselves while building high quality products and services which can build smarter cities of the future.

Our role in this project is to help our smart city start-ups by integrating them with our platform, and connecting them with Microsoft partners, customers and industry experts to develop and mature their offerings. This will assist them in developing and implementing ‘go-to market’ strategies, building important industry and government partnerships and help in entering new markets allowing them to leapfrog in terms of quality of work and recognition.

Since its kick off, 20+ startups have been regularly meeting with Microsoft teams and are working in groups based on their verticals and solutions, to brainstorm and develop offerings. Our partners from leading consulting firms like KPMG, PWC and Zinnov Consulting are taking an active role in shaping these discussions and building value propositions for each group.

By FY16, we will be helping them amplify their work by investing in go-to market activities. Our vision is to document their ideas through a combined ‘Smart City Position Paper’ which will be digitally released to the market and to take the message on the road via a multi-city marketing tour inviting key government leaders and influences to see this innovation first hand.

Here’s to a living in a smarter world very soon!
