Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in Bangalore Graduates 13 Startups at Demo Day
The Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in Bangalore graduated its third batch of startups on November 29, 2013. The Demo Day featured thirteen impressive startups, from social media platforms and data analytics to event services, who are now ready to take their businesses to market.
Throughout the program, we emphasize a strong focus on customer development mentoring to help entrepreneurs grow their business. The startups in the program doubled or even tripled their revenue during their tenure as their traction deepened through customer and partner introductions. More than 90% of the startups are now running on an average of $100K USD in revenue.
We are now accepting applications for the next class of startups, which begins in January 2014. But don’t just take our word for the value startups in the program receive. A few of the graduating startups let us know about their experience in the program:
- "We got kick-started by the accelerator team! This 4-month program was our highway to success. On full throttle!" – Nikhil Kapur, Co-founder, TommyJams
- "Microsoft Ventures Accelerator has changed our view of the accelerators. An ever-supportive team, fantastic infrastructure and a total focus on startups' growth makes it possible." – Amarpreet Kalkat, CEO, Frrole
- "Microsoft Ventures' weekly scrum and CEO-In-Residence meetings were extremely useful. The environment and mentorship allowed us to rapidly prototype and release a closed beta by Demo Day." – Abhijit Gupta, Co-founder, Chance
- "We now have a solid pitch, a clear roadmap involving customers, investors and the product, essentially an executable plan" – Kunal Abhishek, Co-founder, Native5
After four months of intense hard work, brainstorming and networking, the startups were ready to tell their story and pitch their ventures in a high-energy environment. More than 400 people, including investors, mentors, advisors, senior company executives and media attended the event. There were more than 150 investors meeting the startups at Demo Day in what has now become the top destination for entrepreneurs in India.
A few of our mentors and investors recall their experience:
- "High quality start-ups, very high quality presentations, and very slickly run event!" – Samir Kumar, Inventus Capital Partners
- "The teams matured both in their ideation and business outlook during the time they were at the accelerator. Frankly, am a bit envious of them!" – Ravindra Krishnappa, TiE Charter Member and Active Investor
- "I felt for batch #3 the value propositions of the startups were highly differentiated at a global level. I can truly say that world-class companies are now emerging from Indian Accelerators such as MS Ventures!" – Nishant Verman, Canaan Partners
We had a wonderful time at the Demo Day event, but an even more incredible experience working closely with brilliant founders, mentors and investors throughout the program. We are thrilled for their future and honored to introduce you to the graduating startups:
