Inside Microsoft’s Machine Learning Accelerator: Introducing our Startup Voices Video Series
If reality TV isn’t your thing, our new startup series may change your mind. No, you won’t find any housemate drama here, but you’ll get a taste of the startup life—the good, the bad, and the ugly—and a behind-the-scenes look into Microsoft’s accelerators.
Last month, we announced the 10 startups invited to join our Machine Learning Accelerator in Seattle. Now, we want to give you the opportunity to get to know them better. We’ve given each startup a GoPro camera to document their journey in the accelerator, and we’ve set up a “confessional booth” where team members can share all the trials and tribulations inherent to being an entrepreneur—and, of course, all the rewards, too.
Every two weeks, with the help of Digital Work Accelerator alum Slope, we’ll publish a new episode of Startup Voices: Inside Microsoft’s Machine Learning Accelerator. Who better to help us capture and amplify the voices of our startups than a team who’s been through it all? (Slope completed the Seattle Accelerator program last July.) Partnering with Slope was a no-brainer. With roots in content production, they’re helping us tell these stories, and we’re using their platform to collaborate in real time to produce each episode. They understand firsthand that every day holds something different for entrepreneurs. Our startups are working on cutting edge technologies one day, and the next they’re flying across the country to pitch their ideas on stage in front of a thousand people. And you’ll get a glimpse of it all.
The startups in Seattle’s third cohort have the potential to make a global impact with their machine learning (ML) solutions. From matching individuals with the right colleges to medical artificial intelligence, the power of ML is vast. Indeed, machine learning is making its way into every facet of our lives and is deeply embedded in the way Microsoft does business, which is why we’re dedicated to empowering startups in this space.
Imagine solutions that transform the way we learn, enabling people with different learning styles to acquire knowledge in a manner best suited to them. That’s what startup Knomos is doing with ML and legal knowledge. What if technology could preemptively help protect the public, the environment and infrastructure in cases of gas or oil emergencies? OneBridge is doing just that. ML is helping people and businesses achieve more in ways big and small.
Over the next several weeks, we’ll continue working closely with all 10 startups to help them get through the challenges of building a company, finding customers and scaling to global markets—and we want to share their stories with you via the Startup Voices video series. Running a startup isn’t for everyone. It’s risky, it’s demanding, and it’s worth every minute—from the sleep-deprived late night coding sessions to the hustle of a product launch. Watch each startups’ progress as they navigate the highs and lows and everything in between.
