8 Startups Selected for the Accelerator in Berlin
In late March, we graduated our first batch of startups from the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in Berlin, the now de-facto startup capital of Germany. Since then, a lot has happened. Several of the companies were able to secure significant funding and many have been able to grow their customer base and take leaps towards profitability. The program is seeing great results and we are thrilled to announce our second batch of startups selected for the Berlin Accelerator.
Nearly 500 companies from 65 countries submitted applications, a 40% increase over the previous batch. The companies we interviewed addressed an impressive breadth of problem spaces, markets and verticals, painting a very reassuring picture of the German entrepreneurial ecosystem. A jury of top investors, experienced entrepreneurs and Microsoft representatives picked the 8 startups that will move into the Berlin Accelerator.
Since mid-August, the startups claimed their desks in our new downtown offices, met their mentors, talked to subject-matter experts relevant to their business, participated in tech-workshops and have received hands-on coaching from our staff. They have had an exciting couple of weeks and are poised to take their companies to the next level.
For many of our companies, this will be a transforming experience. We can’t wait to watch them evolve and present their ventures at our Demo Day in December.
