10 Startups Take the Stage at Seattle Accelerator Home Automation Demo Day

In true-to-Seattle form, we celebrated the graduation of our first cohort from the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in Seattle on December 10th on a rainy evening at a coffeehouse-by-day event space. The Seattle Accelerator launched in August in partnership with American Family Insurance and selected 10 startups committed to changing the future of home automation.

The graduating startups pitched their solutions at Home Automation Demo Day to a buzzing crowd of 371 attendees, including investors and influencers in the Seattle tech and startup community—leaving standing room only for many attendees. Each pitch received welcome enthusiasm from the audience, which was anxious to meet the founders and learn about their solutions.

Pitches were punctuated by speakers from both Microsoft Ventures and American Family insurance, including Mukund Mohan, director of the Seattle Accelerator, Zack Weisfeld, head of Microsoft Ventures global accelerators, and Dan Reed, Managing Director of American Family Ventures. While on stage, Weisfeld drove home the goal of the partnership: “We are here to enable entrepreneurs to do more."

10 Startups Take the Stage at Seattle Accelerator Home Automation Demo Day

After the presentation portion of the evening, each startup had the opportunity to speak to investors and give product demos. You could feel the energy in the room as guests got a glimpse into the future of smart homes.

Over the past four months, these startups have worked closely with mentors to develop their ideas, create solutions, and launch innovative products that will lead to smarter, safer homes. We are thrilled with their progress as they are poised to change the future, and as the first Seattle Accelerator cohort, have set an exceptional precedent for future cohorts.

We are also launching our next cohort for the Seattle Accelerator and are looking for 10-15 startups who are focused on Digital Work. Applications are now open – don't miss the January 30, 2015 deadline!

Here are the startups that presented at the Home Automation Demo Day. If you are an investor, partner or potential customer interested in what they are doing, make sure to reach out to learn more.
