End of the year. End of the decade. Let’s take a last look back at some of the key Microsoft for Startups stories from December 2019 as we head into the roaring twenties!
Microsoft Ignite the Tour rumbled on with Microsoft for Startup showcasing some of the most innovative local startups at each stop. Sao Paulo in December saw six startups make their first appearance at an Ignite event.
Later in the month, Ignite arrived in Argentina
Ryohei Fujimaki and his team at dotData have built their data science automation platform, resulting in the company being selected by CRN as one of its Big Data Startups To Know In 2019. dotData democratizes and accelerates the end-to-end process from data to production, bringing the fruits of data science to enterprises large and small, shortening project timelines and enabling more people to create successful data science projects. The Best of 2019
We asked the Microsoft for Startups MDs from around the world to share some of their highlights form 2019, the companies they met and the technologies that impressed them the most. We also asked them to identify trends from their regions for 2020 and pick out some of the names that will be on everyone’s lips a year from now. Read more here.
Microsoft for Startups News Roundup
Microsoft for Startups and the BC Tech Association announced a partnership that will develop, strengthen and accelerate the growth of the startup ecosystem on the west coast of Canada. Through a series of joint events, local startups will have the opportunity to tap into Microsoft’s technical resources, business experts, and free cloud services, while leveraging BC Tech’s network and infrastructure. Office Hours on Business Value of Azure Marketplace
Early in December, Microsoft for Startups, San Francisco went out and met startup founders in their natural habitat, Palo Alto! Shaloo Garg and Brian Bell met with B2B founders and shared the business value of being on Azure Marketplace with insights into how it can help startups accelerate their business. Based on positive response, this is likely to become a regular get together with new topics every month.
Holiday Party with Women Founders
How could we let the decade end without a toast? At the San Francisco Reactor, Microsoft for Startups hosted a Women Founders Peer to Peer holiday networking event where along with eggnog, festive hats and spicy hors d’oeuvres, the team shared best ways for women entrepreneurs to engage with Microsoft. With over 80 women attending this event, there was open conversation about which areas are ripe for women entrepreneurs to engage in for funding and what’s on their wish list for 2020.
Accelerator in a Day, Portugal
At the end of November, 2019, 25 startups from all over Portugal came together to condense a 16-week accelerator program into an eight-hour day. Microsoft for Startups teamed up with Centrado Advising to run a hands-on session from how to put together a team to developing the right value proposition while boosting the effectiveness of managing projects.
Microsoft for Startups Day at São Paulo, Brazil
In early December, the Startups and Cloud Advocacy teams in Latam hosted the first Microsoft for Startups day, a full day event at São Paulo office. There we had more than attendees from a wide range of startups, with session on business development, go-to-market strategy and coselling with Microsoft.
VC Pitch Day, Shanghai
On December 11, 2019 Microsoft for Startups, China kicked off its latest VC Pitch Day with a welcoming speech from CEO James Chou. There were nine startups and more than 42 investors gathered in our Shanghai office, representing industries as diverse as Automobile, AI, Robotics and more. Each startup was given 15 minutes to present their ideas and latest developments. After that, VCs were given the opportunity to initiate deeper conversations and explore potential collaborations.
Johnson & Johnson Corporate Visit Day
On December 12, Johnson & Johnson hosted Microsoft for Startups and a group of startups at their Asia Pacific Innovation Center in Shanghai, to explore cooperation possibilities. The meeting was chaired by Tyrone Mao, Senior Director of Consumer Scientific Innovation for Johnson & Johnson. Following a valuable introductory session, a roundtable initiated fierce discussions on supply chain forecasting, product development and data-driven sales empowerment.
