Payments startup Pockyt is focused on improving the process of cross-border transactions, making it easier for U.S. companies to reach international markets and for consumers in emerging markets to make purchases using local payment methods.
Utilizing Microsoft Azure and GitHub Copilot
With a focus on data security and customer privacy Pockyt is using Microsoft Azure to build out its payment solutions. On top of Azure, the team is taking advantage of GitHub Copilot to streamline their software development.
GitHub Copilot serves as an automated coding assistant, helping Pockyt’s development team generate code more quickly and accurately. By automating routine coding tasks, Copilot allows the developers to focus on more complex problems, thereby increasing productivity. For example, the tool helps create utility classes and test cases, which has sped up these tasks by 10 to 100 times. According to the team, they are two times more productive with the tools, reducing the time needed for tasks such as system integrations and implementations. This efficiency is particularly beneficial for Pockyt’s business partners, as it leads to faster and smoother integration with Pockyt’s platform.
“We anticipate a 500% increase in productivity in the medium to long term as we continue adapting AI and fine-tuning our software development life cycle,” Lin tells Microsoft for Startups.

Facilitating international payments
At its core, Pockyt aims to facilitate smoother transactions between U.S. businesses and international markets. Mason Lin, co-founder of Pockyt, notes the company’s dual focus: assisting U.S. companies in entering new markets and enabling consumers from primarily emerging markets to transact using popular local payment methods, such as digital wallets like Alipay.
Initially, Pockyt was one of the first companies to integrate major Chinese payment methods in the U.S., addressing a significant gap between disparate payment systems. Over time, Pockyt has expanded its services to include more countries and has adapted to handle different types of payment transactions, with a focus on digital wallet methods.
Expanding Services with “Payout”
Recently, Pockyt introduced a new feature called “payout,” which allows U.S. companies to send payments directly to individuals’ digital wallets. This service targets gig workers, influencers, and streamers, providing a straightforward way for them to receive payments from companies. This new feature is part of Pockyt’s broader strategy to diversify its offerings and solve specific payment challenges faced by its users.
